Abstract
1,244,740. Al alloys. ALCAN RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT Ltd. Oct. 30, 1968 [Nov. 17, 1967], No. 51542/68. Heading C7A. High stress corrosion resistance is developed in an alloy having the composition Zn 3À8-4À6% Mg 1-2% Mn 0À2-0À7% Zr 0À1-0À25% Fe not more than 0À4% Si not more than 0À25% impurities not more than 0À05% each, and not more than 0À15% total Al remainder, by heating at 350‹-550‹ C. for a time sufficient to effect solution of alloying constituents followed by cooling at 0À1‹-80‹C. /sec at least through the range 350‹-250‹C., the alloy then being subjected to at least 5% reduction by cold working.
