Abstract

1385665 Waistband with friction ridge Q S T INDUSTRIES INC 7 Nov 1973 [11 Dec 1972] 25649/73 Heading A3V [Also in Division D1] A garment waistband adapted frictionally to engage another overlapping garment comprises a flat lying base fabric 10 provided, entirely on one surface thereof, with a ridge 11 consisting of superimposed unstressed rubber threads 14, 14a each disposed in a serpentine configuration, and the rubber threads are anchored to the base fabric by bights 15 of non- elastic threads. The waistband is intended for incorporation in trousers or a skirt and the ridge 11 serves to hold down a shirt or blouse. The base fabric may be woven and may comprise one or more layers. The threads 14, 14a may be of natural or synthetic rubber and may have a polygonal, preferably square, crosssection to enhance the gripping effect. The serpentine configuration of the threads 14, 14a may be sinusoidal and the threads may have the same amplitude and frequency. Alternatively sinusoids of different amplitudes may be used.
