Abstract

1381110 Weft grippers M POIZAT 22 Dec 1971 [29 Dec 1970] 59579/71 Heading D1E A rapier weft inserter has a weft gripper at its end comprising jaws 5, 6 whose plane of contact is inclined relative to the direction of closure of the jaws so that closing one jaw on the other produces a wedge action. Jaw 6 is pivoted about a vertical axis 10 and biassed by an adjustable spring 12 against jaw 5, The jaws are opened by a stationary ramp 15 on the loom and weft 4 is guided between the jaws by a slot 1c in side wall member 1r of the gripper body 1.
