Abstract

1379661 Matrix displays GENERAL ELECTRIC CO 11 Jan 1972 [12 Jan 1971] 1163/72 Heading G5C A digital display device comprises a member 2 with indicator bars arranged in a figure-ofeight, two shutters 26, 60 including opaque bars for blocking portions of the figure, as described in Specification 1,371,101, and a lens 90 having a fresneled figure-of-eight portion which is the same size as the figure-of-eight in the member 2. The lens collimates light from a source 41 and provides uniform illumination of the display. The lens is blackened away from the figure-of-eight to reduce stray light. A front lens 100 which may be coloured is mounted in front of the member 2 to increase the viewing angle.
