Abstract

1378141 Machinery guards F MOUNTFORD 20 Dec 1971 [26 Sept 1970] 45936/70 Heading F2J 4 A guard for a machine (e.g. a drill 1, 10, 11) comprises a bracket 2 mountable (e.g. as at 3) to a fixed part of the machine and a pair of movable guard members 5 carried by arms 4 pivoted to the bracket (e.g. about rod 6) and movable between a position (shown) forming a tubular guard for a spindle &c. of the machine and a retracted position for access. Both these positions may be defined by stops 9, 8 engaging the arms 4. The arms are retained in each of these positions by a spring 7 which crosses the rod axis 6 when the guard moves between its end positions.
