Abstract

1,013,738. Cutting by fusion. H. R. MORGAN. April 29, 1964 [Feb. 4, 1963], No. 4474/63. Heading B3V. In a flame-cutting machine for profile cutting the end of a tube 1, the cutting torch 2 is mounted to swivel on a pin 4 as cutting proceeds so as to provide a bevel on the cut edge. The torch 2 is carried by a bracket 3 pivoted on pin 4 secured to a slide bar 5 which provides the longitudinal movement of the torch. A slotted arm 7 of the bracket engages a fixed pin 8, whereby the bracket 3 is caused to swivel by the longitudinal movement of bar 5. The tube 1 is rotated during cutting. Alternatively, the tube may be both rotated and moved axially during cutting and the pin 8 then moves with the tube to produce the swivel movement, or the tube may be fixed whilst the torch is rotated and moved axially.
