Abstract

1371240 Injection moulding plastics containers GPG HOLDINGS Ltd 5 June 1972 [2 July 1971] 31153/71 Heading B5A [Also in Division B8] The invention relates to a method of injection moulding a plastics container, e.g. a bottle crate, comprising a base 1, side walls 2-5 and at least one reinforcing internal rib 8-12, 15-18 integral with at least one of the side walls. According to the invention, the or each rib is located between two apertures 20-29 in the base 1, these apertures being formed by spigots, as 37- 45 (Fig. 2) carried by a male section 31 of the injection mould. In the example, twenty spigots are provided, extending upwardly from a plate 36. A further male section 32 which is rectangular in section is carried by a plate 47. The female mould section 30 comprises an array of movable elements, as 33, 34 (35) providing a rectangular cavity. Additional ribs 19 are formed in the four corners of the container. The interior of the container may comprise partition walls forming, e.g. bottle compartments. In a modification (Fig. 5, not shown) the corner ribs 19 are broad and may be hollow, and adjacent ribs are connected at their bases by integral flange parts (52).
