Abstract

1370094 Bridge deck THOS STOREY (ENGS) Ltd 16 Sept 1971 [4 Dec 1970] 57792/ 70 Headings E1G and E1K A bridge of the Bailey type has a deck comprising a plurality of stringers arranged transversely to the transoms, the stringers comprising parallel beams 2 interconnected by transverse members 4, and being connected to the transoms either by bolts or by clamps which are bolted to the transom. The deck may have a rectangular, metal plate 8 welded to the beams 2, the corners of the plate being cut away, Fig. 1 (not shown) to provide access to the bolts. Alternatively, wooden chesses may be laid transversely on the stringers and secured by a kerb unit, Fig. 4, having pegs 16 inserted into holes in the chesses and J-bolts passing through holes 18 to engage the upper flange of the beams 2. Blocks 10 welded to the stringers engage similar blocks on the transoms. The members 4 may be tubular and welded to the beams 2. Specifications 1349749 and 1370095 are referred to.
