Abstract

1362265 Two-part couplings CANNON ELECTRIC (GREAT BRITAIN) Ltd 9 March 1972 [12 March 1971] 6650/71 Heading H2E In a two-part coupling the socket part 1 has a biscuit 4 which fits into the casing of the plug part 2 on mating, the parts being held together by latches each of which comprises a resilient T-shaped member 11 integral with the socket biscuit 4 via its shank and having a portion, on one of its arms which engages a portion on the plug casing. As shown the engaging portions have a complementary hook and shoulder 12 but in the embodiment of Fig. 1, they have complementary interrupted screw threads (34). To unlatch the parts the other arm of the T is depressed to swing the T and disengage the portions. A locking ring (35) may be slid over the latches. The contacts are held in bores of a supporting member 4, a collar 6 on each element seating against a shoulder 5 in each bore, there being resilient tines 7, 8 integral with the member 4 engaging the contacts to releasably retain their seating. A rubber grommet 3 and. end shell 9 complete the socket, and an 0-ring 10 seals between the coupling parts 1, 2.
