Abstract

1356479 Continuous casting VEREINIGTE OSTERREICHISCHE EISENUND STAHLWERKE AG 9 Dec 1971 [16 Dec 1970] 57319/71 Heading B3F [Also in Division F4] Apparatus for cooling a continuous casting mould 1 comprises a water supply conduit 2 incorporating a pump 5 and a cooling heat exchanger 6, a water return conduit 3, and an emergency water supply conduit 52 having a valve 53, whereby valve 53 is closed when said pump is operating and is automatically opened when said pump fails. An overhead container 4 positioned above the mould 1 for the supply of fresh water includes an inert gas, e.g. nitrogen, space above the water level at a pressure of 0À3 to 0À4 atmospheres. The pressure space 23 is connected to a clean-water tank 38.
