Abstract
1354194 Unsaturated esters MITSUBISHI RAYON CO Ltd 10 Aug 1972 37360/72 Heading C2C [Also in Divisions G2 and C3] For use in preparing polymers including the residues -OOC-R 1 -COOH, wherein R 1 is R 2 and R 3 being H or C 1-4 alkyl radicals, monomers are prepared by reacting an acid anhydride R 1 (CO) 2 O with a hydroxyl-containing vinyl monomer or by reacting the acid R 1 (COOH) 2 with a glycidyl containing vinyl monomer. The hydroxyl-containing vinyl monomer may be allyl alcohol, methallyl alcohol, a hydroxyalkylacrylamide or -methacrylamide, or the products of reaction between acrylic, methacrylic, itaconic, α-methylene glutaric, maleic or where applicable the anhydrides thereof with a glycol. The anhydride R 1 (CO) 2 O may be that of phthalic, isophthalic, terephthalic, trimellitic, naphthalic, diphenic, isodiphenic, biphenyl-4,41-dicarboxylic, citraconic, pyrocinchonic, ethylmaleic, maleic, fumaric, aconitic or tetrahydrophthalic acids.
