Abstract

1350586 Adjustable beds C GONZALEZRODRIGUES 9 March 1971 45754/70 Heading A4J The mattress supporting frame 25 of a bed is tilted about a horizontal, transverse or longitudinal axis by rotation of a handle 16 to the shaft of which is fixed a pinion 15 in engagement with a toothed wheel 2 fixed to a shaft 3 of a pair of interconnected shafts between which the frame is supported. A hand bolt 26 engages the teeth of the wheel in any desired position. Tilting may be effected using an electric motor 9, by rotating a hand wheel 14 to bring a worm 4 fixed to a shaft 5 connected to the motor, into engagement with the toothed wheel. Guards may be arranged at the sides of the frame, the guards being movable away from the frame to accommodate tilting thereof.
