Abstract

1348880 Cleaning pipe I G MCINTOSH 14 May 1971 [14 Feb 1970 12 Aug 1970] 7202/70 and 38744/70 Heading B7J [Also in Division F2P] A device, e.g. for washing the underbodies of motor vehicles, comprises an elongated tubular first member which is curved into an S-shape and which is adapted at one end to be joined to a hose, and a second tubular member removably secured to the other end of the first member, the second member having a straight portion which forms a straight extension of the first member and being provided (at the end remote from the first portion) with a nozzle for directing water at an angle of about 90 degrees to the axis of the straight portion. As shown in Fig. 1 the first member 2 bears a handle 6 and a hose adaptor 7. The second member is L-shaped and bears a nozzle 4. A plastics sleeve 8 secured to member 2 is externally screw threaded to receive a plastics collar 9 slidably mounted on member 1, a resilient ring 10 being compressed against sleeve 8 when the joint is tightened. The end of member 1 is of such size as to fit within the end of member 2 and is restrained from rotating by a bar in member 2 engaging notches in the end of member 1. In an alternative embodiment (Fig. 2, not shown) the nozzle bearing member is straight and bears an upwardly directed rose at its end. A wheel supports the rose end from the ground and a support or prop is secured to the first member. The nozzle may be fixed or removable and may be adjustable. The tubular members are preferably of aluminium.
