Abstract

1347000 Marine fenders GEORGE WIMPEY & CO Ltd 25 Jan 1972 [30 Oct 1970] 51740/70 Heading B7S A marine structure, e.g. jetty, pier or dock 10 is provided with a fender comprising a frame 15 mounted in bearings 14, e.g. of nylon so as to be slidable parallel to frame 15 and connected to the structure 10 by resilient ropes 22 of synthetic fibres extending between a horizontal flange 21 attached to frame 15 and the crossbeam 13 nearest the fender panel 18 which is pivotable about a vertical axis and is constrained by chains 20. Panel 18 may be made from hardwood. In another embodiment (not shown) the frame 15 is C-shaped and disposed in a vertical plane, each of its limbs being mounted in bearings and having flanges connected to the structure 10 by resilient ropes.
