Abstract
1450060 Mooring S W PROCTOR and S C PROCTOR 14 Dec 1973 [15 Dec 1972] 58162/72 Heading B7S A boat mooring comprises an arm 2 in the form of a tubular steel shaft 6 having a ball joint 7a, 7b, 7c at one end the part. 7b carrying a plate which may be removably fitted to a boat B, and a second joint 8 at the other end of the shaft 6, caps 8b of which embrace a ball 9 sweated atop a vertical post 3 on a jetty or the like. The arm 2 allows vertical movements of the boat relative to the jetty due to rise and fall of the tide and to prevent swinging movement of the boat about the arm 2 stabilising ropes (not shown) may be provided secured to the bow and stern of the boat and to the post 3 or to auxiliary posts in a line with and at the same level as the ball 9, so that thei length remains constant with rise and fall of the boat. A compression spring 9 or telescopic shock absorber may be fitted to the boat end of the shaft 6, and variations in the desired position and/or size of the boat may be catered for by making the arm 2 of telescopic sections.
