Abstract

1344248 Aluminium alloy OLIN CORP 31 Dec 1970 [25 Feb 1970] 62052/70 Heading C7A A hot worked aluminium-base alloy consists of the following, in per cent by weight: - and optionally: - Al the balance apart from impurities:- Cr + Zr + Mn being 0À2 - 0À35 The impurities may be Fe up to 0À6, Cu up to 0À3, Zn up to 0À5, B up to 0À008, other elements up to 0À1 each and up to 0À5 in total. The alloy may be hot worked with a finishing temperature in excess of 900‹F then quenched in water at a cooling rate of 1000-10, 000‹F per minute or air cooled at a rate 100-1, 000‹F per minute to a temperature of 350‹F or below. The alloy may then be aged at 200-410‹F for “ to 24 hours. Homogenization may precede hot-working and cold-working up to 5% may follow the quenching or cooling. Specification 1344249 is referred to.
