1344177 Record stack stabilizer MAGNAVOX CO 13 July 1971 [13 July 1970] 32859/71 Heading G5R An assembly for stabilizing a stack of records S on the centre spindle 13 of a record player comprises a stabilizing element 24, 25 which maintains the plane of the records at an angle, e.g. 6 degrees, to the turntable plane and which in use is guided for vertical movement in a support 20. The element includes a first arm 24 terminated at its free end by ring 31 which is biased into engagement with the top record of the stack by spring 27 and a second arm 25 which is formed with a slot 26 through which a roller 23 of the support extends and with an abutment 25c and guide part 25e with which a second roller 22 of the support co-operates. Records can be loaded on the spindle 13 when the stabilizing element is lifted and pivoted until abutment 25c engages on roller 22. In use the element is guided for vertical movement by roller 23 in slot 26 and the engagement of guide part 25e with roller 22. When the last record has been played the arm 24 pivots to a horizontal position in which it is held by a bridge member 21 of the support. The downward and outward movement of the end 25c of arm 25 moves an element 29 whereby operation of the player is brought to a halt at the next record change sequence. The shelf supporting the records on the spindle 13 is formed at the same angle, e.g. 6 degrees, to the turn-table plane.
