Abstract
1342953 Cyclopentadiene BAYER AG 23 April 1971 [23 April 1970] 10946/71 Heading C5E Cyclopentadiene is produced by splitting dicyclopentadiene which has been obtained in the form of a concentrate by the heat treatment of a C 5 fraction of a pyrolysis petrol and subsequent enrichment by fractional distillation and which contains thermally stable dimers of isoprene and co-dimers of Cyclopentadiene, isoprene and piperylene wherein the splitting is effected in liquid phase at normal or slightly excess pressure at 170-250‹ C. and wherein a concentration of 10-70% by wt. is maintained in the bottom sump of the splitting apparatus for said thermally stable dimers and co-dimers which are obtained as bottom product of the splitting treatment.
