Abstract
1340778 Electric incandescent lamps THORN ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 1 Dec 1972 [2 Dec 1971] 56063/71 Heading H1F A lead-in conductor comprises a strip 20 of refractory metal such as tungsten or molybdenum having a screw threaded formation 23 at one end by means of which it can be screwed into an end of a coiled filament. The other end of the strip may be welded to a molybdenum foil which is embedded in the pinch seal of a quartz or silica envelope, or the strip itself may extend completely through the seal. The pitch or radius of the formation 23 may increase progressively away from the end of the strip to ensure a tight fit in the filament coil.
