Abstract

1,230,084. Knitting-machines. BENTLEY MACHINE DEVELOPMENT CO. Ltd. 30 April, 1968 [6 May, 1967], No. 21188/67. Heading D1C. The stitch cam 34, upthrow cam or sinker cam of a circular machine has a concave surface 36a preceded by a surface 36 of decreased angle of lead-in such that high speed knitting is attained by the butts of the instruments engaging the surface 36 and the instruments being progressively increased in their movement as the butts move along the surface. The bottom or innermost edge 37 of the cams is rounded to reduce the sudden projection of the butts and instruments off the end of the cam surface. The landing cam 35 is also correspondingly caused to receive the butts as they are projected from the cam surface. In a two feeder machine selection is made by passing or mispassing selector jacks which are raised or missed by a cam having a surface of similar configuration to that described above. Tuck work is produced by suitable selection. A retaining cam between feeds retains the inoperative selectors within the tucks between feeds.
