Abstract
1,226,129. Injection moulding. CHEMISCHE WERKE HULS A.G. 9 Aug., 1968 [12 Aug., 1968], No. 38187/68. Heading B5A. Foamed plastics articles are produced by injecting at high pressure a thermoplastic plastics composition with an expanding agent into a mould cavity to fill it completely, hardening the surface of the moulding whilst it is under pressure, removing this pressure by withdrawing some of the material from the cavity interior, and expanding the material remaining. The material may be allowed to flow out of the cavity during the expansion, or it may be withdrawn by suction. Prior to the injection step the cavity may contain a gas or liquid under pressure, which may be heated and which escapes during the injection.
