Abstract

1,216,161. Knives. NIPPON TENSHASHI K.K. 29 May, 1969 [15 Feb., 1969], No. 27351/69. Heading B4B. A knife comprises a cutting blade 4 held in a holder 9, 17 by means of a clamping device having jaws 7 which are formed with chamfered portions 7<SP>1</SP> engageable with ma ing surfaces, on the holder portion 9, the jaws being urged to the clamping position by means of a spring 16. The jaws 7 are formed on a member 15 slidable in a bore 11 which is provided in the holder portion 9, the member 15 being connected by a thread 8 to a control member 13. A knob 15 is secured to the control member so that by depressing the knob against the action of the spring 16 the jaws are released. Spare blades can be accommodated within the control member. The blades are made from a thin steel strip having a cutting edge 3 and formed with break lines 2, Fig. 5, so that blades 4 may be successively broken from the strip. A cap (18, Fig. 4) having a pocket clip (21) can be screwed on to the holder portion 9.
