Abstract
1,203,004. Refractory material comprising at least 97% Al 2 O 3 . DYNAMIT NOBEL A.G. 13 Sept., 1968 [14 Sept., 1967], No. 43733/68. Heading C1A. [Also in Division F4] A refractory material which has been cast in molten form comprises aluminium oxide. silicon dioxide, titanium dioxide, ferric oxide, an alkaline earth metal oxide and an alkali metal oxide, the aluminium oxide being present as at least 97% by weight and the silicon dioxide being present as from 0À3 to 0.8% by weight of the material. The preferred composition of the material is 97-99% Al 2 O 3 , 0À3-0À8% SiO 2 , 0.2 to 0.4% TiO 2 , 0.05- 0À11% Fe 2 O 3 , 0À33-0À94% alkaline earth metal oxide and 0À22-0À24% alkali metal oxide. The preferred alkaline earth metal oxides are CaO or MgO. The preferred alkali metal oxides are Na 2 O or K 2 O. The refractory material may be used as a furnace lining.
