Abstract
1,202,670. Sodium perborate monohydrate. SOLVAY & CIE. 19 June, 1969 [17 July, 1968], No. 31094/69. Heading CIA. Sodium perborate monohydrate (NaBO 2 .H 2 O 2 ) is made by continuously dehydrating sodium perborate tetrahydrate (NaBO 2 .H 2 O 2 .3H 2 O) in a fluidized bed supplied with air heated to a temperature of at least 180‹ C., e.g. 180-210‹ C. The tetrahydrate fed into the fluidized bed drier may be dry material or the direct reaction product of H 2 O 2 and sodium metaborate, from which water has been squeezed out. The resulting monohydrate granules show improved resistance to attrition.
