Abstract

1462242 Hydrated calcium silicates OHODA CHEMICAL INDUSTRY CO Ltd 9 Jan 1974 00936/74 Heading C1A Hydrated calcium silicates are continuously produced by interaction of a siliceous material and a calcareous material in molar ratio of 1 : 0À6-1À3 (expressed as SiO 2 and CaO) in aqueous slurry at 50-100‹ C. forming a gelated slurry, until at least 50% of the total SiO 2 and temperature to above 160‹ C. by continuously feeding the gelled slurry and water of high temperature to a pressurized zone and maintaining the heated slurry at the same temperature for 0À5-4 hours, and continuously discharging the reaction product. Hydroxides and/or silicates of sodium and/or potassium may be used in the process to modify the products. A magnesia material may be added to the slurry raw material to provide molar ratios of SiO 2 : CaO : MgO of 1 : (0À6-1À35) : (0À02-0À07) and (CaO+MgO) : SiO 2 of 0À65-1À4 : 1, in which case the reaction time may be 20 minutes to 3 hours.
