Abstract

1,202,051. Fluid-repellent laminates. JOHNSON & JOHNSON. 23 June, 1967 [24 June, 1966], No. 29143/67. Heading B5N. [Also in Division A5] A flexible laminate for surgical drapes and the like comprises a fluid-repellent main fabric sheet, a secondary fabric sheet extending over part of the main sheet and an impervious organic polymer film arranged between the sheets. The polymer film must be capable of withstanding sterilizing temperatures and is preferably of polypropylene or a copolymer of propylene and ethylene. The fabric sheets are preferably laminates of scrim sandwiched between layers of tissue paper which have been impregnated with a fluorocarbon stearate-chromium complex to render them fluid-repellent. The film is preferably glued, around its edges only, between the sheets.
