Abstract

1,061,054. Laminates. KIMBERLY-CLARK Ltd. Aug. 29, 1963 [Aug. 29, 1962], No. 33211/62. Heading B5N. A laminated sheet material suitable for medical use, e.g. as a sheet in an operating theatre, waterproof covers for trollies or wrappers for sterile dressing packs comprises a sheet of thermoplastic material such as polyethylene sandwiched between two outer sheets of cellulose wadding which may be creped, the permeability of the material initially being such as to allow steam to pass through it for sterilization and whereafter, as a result of the steam treatment, being such that the material is substantially impermeable to blood. The material is made by extruding the plastics sheet between the cellulose wadding sheets as they pass through the nip of a pair of rollers.
