Abstract
1,201,401. Ship stabilizer. BLOHM & VOSS A.G. 10 Jan., 1968 [24 Jan., 1967], No. 1457/68. Heading B7M. A roll stabilizer for ships comprises a fin 5 attached to a shaft 4 rotatable in a casing 1, the shaft having a slot engageable with a bar 6b on a drive shaft 12, and the casing having pins 2, 3 pivotable in a housing 7 so that the fin 5 may be pivoted into the ship. Shaft 12 is driven by an electric motor 13 to adjust the inclination of the fin. A shaft 14 is connected to pin 2 to pivot the casing 1, shaft 4 and fin 5 through 90 degrees into the ship. Before pivoting, the fin is rotated into its zero position. During pivoting, coupling member 6 disengages bar 6b and engages a guide rail (16, Fig. 3, not shown) to maintain the fin in its zero position.
