Abstract
1,201,264. Mounting electric lamps in casings. BUTLERS Ltd. 17 Oct., 1967 [17 Oct., 1966], No. 46281/66. Heading F4R. [Also in Division H2] A lamp 22 is retained in a reflector 10 in a vehicle lamp fitting by a metal socket 25, mounted on the reflector, and a contact-carrying insulating ring 27, Fig. 3, which have projections (29, Fig. 2, not shown) and slots 28 in bayonet engagement, a contact 34 on the ring 27 resiliently engaging the base contact stud 26 of the lamp and urging a flange 23 on the lamp base against an in-turned rim of the socket 25. The contact 34 and a contact 30, each of which terminates in a socket 32 which receives a plug 36, 33 on a lead wire 37, 31, are bent around the ring 27 to engage it resiliently, the contact 30 and, as a result, the lamp flange 23 being earthed by engagement of a bayonet projection (29) on the socket 25 with the contact 30. Should the lamp have two filaments, a further contact is provided in a notch 38 in the ring 27. The reflector 10 is mounted in a casing comprising parts 12, 13 held together by screws 14 and having a lens 11 and a mounting bracket (17). Resilient gaskets 20, 21 and a lamp shield 24 are also included in the casing.
