Abstract

1422112 Vehicle lamps VEGA AUTO PRODUCTS Ltd 8 March 1973 [9 Dec 1971] 57179/71 Heading F4R [Also in Division H2] A socket unit for a vehicle lamp comprises a tubular plastics housing 2 having an internal flange 4 at one end and attached at its opposite end to a lamp body 1, and a metal lamp holder 6 in the form of a liner in the housing, the lamp holder having lamp locating means such as baynonet slots (not shown) for retaining the lamp bulb 20 and at least one tab 7 which engages a slot 5 in the flange 4 to retain the holder in the housing. The holder is bent from a metal strip so that the ends mate but are not joined in any way. An electrical contact 10 is mounted in a nylon bush 11 loaded by a spring 14, and an earth terminal (16) is fixed to a metal washer 9 in contact with the tab 7. A modified unit for a duble filament lamp has two electrical contacts (26, Fig. 4, not shown).
