Abstract

1298398 Chucks SMW SPANNEINRICHTUNGEN SCHNEIDER & WEISSHAUPT 8 May 1970 [12 May 1969] 22307/70 Heading B3B [Also in Division F2] An arrangement for supplying pressure medium into a cylinder, e.g. for a pressure operated chuck or clutch, comprises a stationary ring component 3 surrounding a rotatable body 1 and being connected to a pressure medium supply 6, a gap 5 separating the outer surface 2 of the body and the inner surface of the ring component 3, and sealing elements 13, 14, 15, 16 in recesses 11, 12 in the ring component on each side of a supply duct 8 or 9. The invention is characterized by providing one or more connecting lines 17, 17<SP>1</SP>, 18, 18<SP>1</SP> from the ducts 8 or 9, or separate pressure medium lines 22, to supply pressure medium into the recesses 11, 12 to press the sealing elements 13, 14, 15, 16 on to the surface 2 of the body 1. Restriction 19 or orifice plate 20 ensure an initial pressure build up to move the sealing elements, or alternatively the through-flow section of the connecting lines 17, 17<SP>1</SP>, 18, 181 are made greater than that for the ducts 8 or 9.
