Abstract

1297575 Clamps CODMAN & SHURTLEFF INC 24 July 1970 [25 July 1969] 35988/ 70 Heading E2B A clamp 10 for surgical towels comprises a one piece plastics moulded element having two substantially straight arms 11, 12 connected by an arcuate portion 13 to yieldingly maintain the arms at a predetermined spacing, each arm having a jaw 14, 15 at the end thereof. A toothed rack 21 extends inwardly from one arm and a locking member 27 from the other, the rack 21 and locking member 27 interengaging when the jaws 14, 15 are urged towards one another into their clamping relationship. The locking member 27 may be provided with a lever 29 to facilitate release of the jaws 14, 15. The rack 21 is formed in two parallel spaced parts (Figs. 7, 9, not shown) which may or may hot be connected respectively, so that a groove is formed therebetween, the locking member 27 having a guiding leg 30 which co-operates with the groove to prevent any twisting of the clamp 10. As shown the jaws 14, 15 are offset from the axes of the arms and comprise complementary concave-convex surfaces although the jaws may comprise pointed members (Fig. 10, not shown).
