Abstract
1297213 Radiant burners COLUMBIA GAS SYSTEM SERVICE CORP 14 Jan 1971 [19 Jan 1970] 1988/71 Heading F4T In a radiant heat gas burner, air/gas mixture is supplied via inlet openings 28 and throat portions 26 of orifices 16 in a burner plate 14 to diverging outlet portions 32, so that a jet 38 is projected centrally from each throat portion 26 into the outlet portion 32 of each orifice 16 with separation of the jet from the surface of the outlet portion creating a zone 40 of recirculation flow which is of lower velocity than jet 38, the flame front being located within said outlet portions 32 to heat the surface of the outlet portions to incandescence. A metal screen or mesh 24 may be provided to increase the amount of radiant heat emitted by the burner. A piezoelectric or other igniter may be used to effect ignition.
