Abstract

1296532 Scavenging vessels L W SANDERSON 19 April 1971 [21 Nov 1969] 57229/69 Heading B7A A floating container 2 has apertures 8 in its walls and closure members 11 slidably mounted adjacent the apertures are provided with floats 21 by means of which the closure members are maintained at a given level relative to the surface of the liquid in which the container is floating. Each closure member has an inlet opening 13 communicating with the aperture and portion 18 of the closure member is free to tilt under the influence of the floats. In the embodiment of Figs. 1 and 3, the container is cylindrical in shape, each aperture is a slot extending over substantially the height of the container and the closure members slidably mounted in the slots are flexible. In a further embodiment, Fig. 10 (not shown), the equipment comprises a plurality of barrel-shaped containers assembled on a grid structure provided with floats.
