1296495 Vehicle wheels; stair climbing vehicles THRING ADVANCED DEVELOPMENTS Ltd 19 April 1971 [18 March 1970 12996/70 Headings B7C and B7D A rimless vehicle wheel is composed of a hub 10 and a plurality of separate elongate arms 11 extending radially outwardly from said hub, each arm being telescopic with two parts, a radially outer part 12 resiliently biased outwardly of an inner part 13 and radially movable in relation thereto. In embodiment part 12 slidably engages over the outer end of part 13, Fig. 5, and in another embodiment, Fig. 6 (not shown), part 12 engages within part 13, the biasing in both cases being achieved by means of springs 30. The radially outer end of part 12 carries a detachable wear-resistant pad 14 and bracing members 16 may be used to strengthen the wheel. The wheel may be used on a vehicle to facilitate movement over rough terrain and for climbing a staircase.
