Abstract
1290396 Pipe couplings HALBERGERHUETTE GmbH 24 Dec 1969 [28 Dec 1968] 62931/69 Heading F2G The inner pipe 1 of a flexible spigot and socket pipe coupling has an outer enlargement 2 formed at its end by pressure, welding, casting, or by welding-on rings or segments, Figs. 1-7 (not shown), and a metallic retaining ring 13 is supported on the enlargement and compressed against it by the axial displacement of a sleeve 14 in a socket at the end of a pipe 12, thus preventing axial separation of the pipes independently of any seal present. The sleeve 14 may, as shown, be screw-threaded on to the socket, or may have a bayonet-type connection, Fig. 10 (not shown). The engaging surfaces of the retaining ring 13 and the sleeve 14 may be frusto-spherical, Figs. 9, 10 (not shown).
