The belt 10 has a back part 24 with spring strips 29, or other stiffening bars sewn into it at its junctions with side parts 26, which are connected at their other ends with a belly plate 12 which is in two halves 36 connected by hook clasps 38. The front ends of the side parts are pivotally attached at 40 near their lower edges to the belly plate, and lacing 42 connects the remainder of the end edges. The outside of the back part 24 has tightening lacings 32 behind the spring strip 44. An elastic reinforcing band 30 is provided around the outside bottom edge of the belt. The members 48, 50, 53, 54 may be interconnectible by interlocking pins, Fig. 9 (not shown).
