Abstract

1288751 Punching; die sets COLEYROTOLIN Ltd 22 Sept 1969 [20 June 1968] 29374/68 Heading B3W Apparatus for actuating a die set, comprising a punch-plate 45 and a base-plate 14 held in alignment by pins 51 and bearings 52, comprises a base 12, a support 11 projecting upwardly from the base, a toggle linkage 34, 41 pivoted to the support 11 at 38 and screwed 16, an attachment block 43 for the punch-plate 45 and means for operating the toggle linkage such as a fluid-operated double-acting ram 31 and lever 32. The die set-actuating apparatus thus has no means for guiding the path of the attachment block 43, when the toggle linkage is operated to move the punch-plate towards or away from the base-plate, the path being determined solely by the pins 51 and bearings 52 of the die set. The support 11 and base 12 are formed by parallel, somewhat L-shaped plates 10 each carrying a lug 16 for location in a complementary groove in the base-plate. Bolts 18 pivoted to the base 12 are swung up and secured by nuts 24 in lugs 22 on the base-plate 14 to clamp the base-plate 14 in position. The attachment block 43 is pivoted to lugs 46 on the punch-plate and the link 41 is adjustable in length. Levers 34 and 32 form a bell crank 33. The apparatus may be mounted on a bench 53 by means of 54, 55 or have a base to form a free standing press.
