Abstract

1284214 Feeding fibres to carding machines; mixing fibres CARDING SPECIALISTS (CANADA) Ltd 19 April 1971 [12 Feb 1970] 6818/70 Headings D1F and DIN Fibres are fed to a carding machine by introducing the fibres into an air stream generated by an air pump upstream at 52, 53 or 54 of the introduction point at 49, 50 or 51 and leading the fibre-laden air stream along a duct to a chute. The fibres can be deflected from the duct into the chute by a pivoted perforated screen (Fig. 1), or by solid plates. The duct can serve more than one chute with means being provided to selectively distribute the material into any one of the chutes. A plurality of fibre introduction points and ducts can be provided so that fibrous material may be blended or fed to different selected chutes.
