Abstract
1280799 Valves AMMUS-SYTYTIN OY 19 April 1971 [6 March 1970] 23277/71 Heading F2V A thermostatically controlled water mixing valve comprises two thermostats 18, 20 each of which is disposed in one of the water flow paths extending between the two valve inlets 2, 3 and the valve mixing chamber 7. Thermostat 18 is carried by an adjustable support 17 and is connected to the other thermostat 20 by a rod 19, the latter thermostat being anchored to a tubular valve member 8 having inflow ports 9, 10 and valving edges 11, 12. Disposed and movable within the valve member is a pressure balancing piston 25 having ports 23, 24. In operation, any pressure imbalance between the hot and cold water supplies fed to ports 2 and 3 respectively, is balanced out by appropriate positioning of piston 25. Subsequently, the cold water flowing through ports 10, 24 and over thermostat 18, and the hot water flowing through ports 9, 23 and over thermostat 20 serves to so position the valve member 8 relative to its two seats 13, 14 as to give a mixed flow of the required temperature, such temperature being set by adjustment of support spindle 16. Complete closure of the mixing valve may be achieved by inward movement of member 15 such that the two seats 13, 14 are brought closer together and are eventually engaged by the valving edges 11, 12.
