Abstract

1278082 Toy vehicle METTOY CO Ltd 21 Jan 1970 [21 Jan 1969] 3026/70 Divided out of 1278081 Heading A6S A toy vehicle has free running wheels 72 carried by a pair of axles 71, wherein said axles 71 are mounted in a sub-base 6 which in turn is mounted on the underside of the vehicle body, being readily detachable from the remainder of the vehicle. The sub-base 6 may be of resiliently flexible construction and afford a spring suspension for the axles 71. The sub-base 6 makes snap-fitting engagement with the underside of the vehicle and a special purpose key 8 is provided for releasing the sub-base from the body. The sub-base 6 has a medial portion 61 located against and supported by the underside of a chassis plate 5 and end portions 62 which carry the axles and which are free to flex upwardly relative to the chassis plate 5. Each of the end portions 62 is provided with a lug or lugs 63 which project above the upper surface of the chassis plate 5 to retain the sub-base 6 to the chassis plate 5. The key 8 is engageable between the medial portion 61 of the sub-base 6 and the lower surface of the chassis plate 5 to cause the sub-base to bow downwardly and thereby disengage the lugs 63 from the chassis plate 5.
