Abstract

1278081 Wheel and axle METTOY CO Ltd 21 Jan 1970 [21 Jan 1969 22 April 1969] 3396/69 and 20510/69 Heading A6S An axle and wheel assembly for a toy car comprises an axle rod 3 and a pair of wheels 1 rotatably mounted thereon, wherein each wheel 1, or at least a central hub portion thereof, is formed as a single one piece moulding of synthetic plastics material having at its centre a through bore provided at each of its ends with an inwardly projecting annular rib 2 having a very small running clearance with the axle rod 3. The axle rod 3 may be formed at each of its outer ends with a head 4, and the wheel hubs may be made of a resilient material which allows the heads 4 to be forced through the bores and past ribs 2. The wheels may consist of a hub portion, a die-cast wheel portion with a central bore and a rubber tyre. The inner face of each wheel may be provided with a protrusion 6 which contacts the chassis C. The assembly may be used with a toy car having springs 7 in the form of metal wires which pass over the axle rods 3.
