Abstract
1,274,282. Anticoccidial &c. compositions. E. R. SQUIBB & SONS Inc. 8 May, 1969. No. 23592/69. Heading A5B. [Also in Division C2] Veterinary compositions, which prevent the spread and development of coccidiosis and have antimicrobial activity, comprise novel benzohydroxamic acids of the formula I wherein R and R<SP>1</SP> are each H or C 1-4 alkyl or phenyl-(C 1-4 alkyl), R<SP>2</SP> is C 1-4 alkyl or C 2-4 alkenyl, R<SP>3</SP> is NH 2 , NO 2 , C 1-4 alkylamino, di (C 1-4 alkyl)-amino, C 1-4 alkanoylamino, R<SP>4</SP>- phenyl-C 1-4 alkanoylamino, R<SP>4</SP>-benzoyl, and R<SP>4</SP> is H, halogen NO 2 , NH 2 , C 1-4 alkyl, C 1-4 alkoxy, or C 1-4 alkanoyl, and A is oxygen or sulphur, and, if desired, a tetraalkylthiuram disulphide, such as tetramethylthiuram disulphide or tetraethylthiuram disulphide, to enhance the activity of the compounds of formula I above, and carriers or diluents therefor. The active ingredients may be admixed with poultry feed, or incorporated in premixes or in drinking water.
