Abstract
1,269,075. Photographic silver halide colour material. EASTMAN KODAK CO. April 1, 1969 [April 1, 1968], No. 16984/69. Heading G2C. A photographic emulsion comprising lightsensitive silver halide grains dispersed in a hydrophilic colloid binder contains three non- diffusible coupling compounds which react with the oxidation products of a primary aromatic amine colour developing agent to form a non-diffusible dye, one coupling compound being a colourless coupler, one being a coloured coupler and the third being a development-inhibitor-releasing coupler having a monothio group in its coupling position which, when the coupler reacts with the oxidation products of a primary aromatic amine colour developing agent, forms a diffusible mercaptan development inhibitor. The coupling compounds may be incorporated in the emulsion as a solution in finely divided particles of a waterinsoluble coupler solvent (e.g. tricresyl phosphate, 2, 4-di-t-amylphenol and di-butylphthalate). Many examples of the various couplers are listed. The coloured coupler corrects the colour of the dye image formed by the colourless coupler and the development-inhibitor-releasing coupler improves sharpness, promotes desirable interimage effects and reduces fog caused by release of the azo group from the coloured coupler.
