Heading B8E. A loading platform assembly for a motor lorry 1 is detachably secured to the underside of longitudinal members 2 by screws 4 and plates 5 clamping a cross-beam 3. The platform 9 is connected to pairs of plates 10 secured to the beam 3 by a parallel crank linkage 8, 15, 18 and may be raised and lowered by hydraulic jacks 13 pivoted between the plates 10 and bellcrank levers 17 connected to the cranks 15. The upper links 18 have pivotally connected to them hydraulic piston-cylinder units 19 also pivotally connected to the platform 9 and operable to swing the platform 9 to a vertical position shown as 9* in the lowered position of the platform 9 and as 9<SP>1</SP> in its raised position where it forms a wall of the lorry 1.
