Abstract

1,058,603. Stabilizing industrial trucks. CONVEYANCER FORK TRUCKS Ltd March 11, 1964 [March 11, 1963], No. 9624/63 Heading B7D. In an industrial truck 1 having a load lifting mast 4, an H-shaped sub-frame 18 is pivotally mounted beneath the vehicle by brackets 20, wheels 21 being carried at the outer ends of the arms 18a of the bracket 18 which may be raised, or lowered for stabilizing purposes by an hydraulic ram 22. In a modification (Figs. 5 and 6, not shown), the sub-frame is replaced by a pair of arms (29 and 30) carrying wheels (31 and 32), slidably mounted in channel members (24 and 25), their inboard ends being connected by a bracket (28) between which and a base-plate (26) a ram (27) is connected for moving the wheels from an inoperative position to a stabilizing position to prevent the vehicle tilting forwards when a load is raised. The hydraulic rams, which are hydraulically or mechanically lockable, may be operated manually or automatically in dependence upon the height of the load.
