Abstract

1,268,260. Pallets. BRITISH AIRCRAFT CORP. Ltd. 26 Nov., 1970 [28 Nov., 1969], No. 58303/69. Heading B8H. [Also in Division F2] The load carrying platform 6 of a pallet is resiliently supported from a base 1 which carries the channels 2 and 3 for insertion of the forks of a fork-lift truck by an air cushion established inside a flexible curtain wall 9 depending from the platform 6, two resilient members 5 and 7 being provided to support the platform when it rests on side walls 4 extending from the base 1. Rigid partitions 8 depend from the platform to support it in the absence of the cushion. A compressor or air bottle (not shown) is mounted on the base 1 and supplies air individually to the compartments formed by the curtain wall 9 and the partitions. Excess air escapes below the curtain wall and between the members 5 and 7 to atmosphere.
