Abstract
1,264,750. Exhaust pipes, silencers. GENERAL MOTORS CORP. Sept.17, 1970 [Sept.27, 1969], No.44392/70. Heading F1B . An exhaust pipe has an end portion having a bend which is upwardly directed when the exhaust pipe is installed in a vehicle and has a flow crosssectional area which decreases towards its junction with the vertex 22, Fig. 4, of the bend. From the vertex 22 to an elongated outlet opening 18 the flow cross-section of the pipe is substantially constant. An end cover 19 may project from a silencer 20 of which the exhaust pipe forms the outlet. The exhaust pipe or pipes are arranged in a vehicle (16) Fig. 1 (not shown) so that the exhaust gases are conducted away from the vehicle interior.
