1,016,931. Exhaust silencers. E. HORNE. Sept. 1, 1964 [June 12, 1963], No. 23323/63. Heading F1B. An exhaust silencer comprises a shell 11 surmounting an open-ended pipe 10 which is provided with apertures formed by inclined slits 17. A baffle 14 with opening 15 may be situated downstream of the end of pipe 10 and the upstream end of shell 11 may be open and provided with a bell mouth to allow flow of air to produce a suction effect on apertures 17.
