Abstract

1,263,051. Improvements in or relating to multi-storey buildings. PARKING SYSTEMS Ltd. and J. M. FAIRGRIEVE. 7 Feb., 1969 [7 Nov., 1967], No. 50629/67. Heading E1A. A building, e.g. a multi-storey car park, comprises an upper floor composed of rectangular slabs 11, 12, &c. arranged in herringbone or echelon arrangement supported at each corner by a stanchion. The stanchions comprise an inner concrete layer 23, a steel sleeve 24, an insulating layer 25 (of, e.g.vermicullite cement and an outer steel sleeve 26 (Fig. 4). Lugs 32 may be provided on the stanchion on which partitions or panels are supported which provide the walls of garages. The ends of the stanchions may be provided with plates to which other stanchions are attached to provide the requisite number of floors, each stanchion defining the height of one floor.
